Committing to sustainability targets

Committing to sustainability targets

At AkzoNobel, we’re aware that climate change could affect our operations, our supply chain and our customers. So, in 2017, we committed to becoming a carbon-neutral company by 2050. Now we’re turning this ambition into reality by setting aspirational, science-based targets. As well as aligning with the 1.5°C pathway, this means we’ll increasingly deliver sustainable solutions to our customers.

Waste and water management

Waste and water management

We’re aiming to move towards zero waste as a company by 2030. An important factor in this is the use of water. We’re committed to taking proactive steps to reuse all our waste and reuse water at all our most water intensive sites. This will allow us to minimize our impact on the environment and reduce the use of essential resources.

Building a circular economy

Building a circular economy

For AkzoNobel, the circular economy goes beyond recycling. It all starts with limiting the need to recycle. Therefore, we focus on zero waste, finding alternative sources for our raw materials, and repurposing and reclaiming materials. This commitment goes beyond our own operations. It’s a responsibility which stretches across the value chain, so we work closely together with suppliers and customers, because collaborative innovation will play a crucial role in helping us to achieve our ambitions.

Building Sustainability

BES 6001 Framework for Responsible Sourcing is an independent, third-party certification scheme from The Building Research Establishment (BRE). The industry recognised certification assesses a broad range of objectives across the value chain to ensure they meet the high standard. BES 6001 is accepted by the BREEAM assessment scheme, which is widely acknowledged as a badge of building sustainability.

Making environmental product data freely available

Dulux Trade recognises that it is important for our customers to be able to assess the sustainability of the products they use on their projects. That is why we publish externally accredited environmental product declarations (EPDs) for 23 key product ranges. These certificates provide externally verified life-cycle analysis of the impact of these products. EPD’s can help you to calculate exactly the impact of our products and create more sustainable specifications.
