PAINT POSITIVE

Why it pays to take a sustainable approach

Find out how our paints perform for you, your customers and the planet

We know that you, like us, want to do the best for your business and for the environment, but it can be hard to know where to start. What does a sustainable product really mean? Will it give you the finish you expect? And what’s the best way of convincing your customers that it’s the right paint for them?

That’s where we come in. Because sustainable thinking lies behind everything we do, you can choose one of our lower-impact paints and be confident that you’ll be getting the high-quality results you’re used to – and making a smart choice for people and the planet at the same time. Read on to find out how you can make a positive difference for your business and your customers every time you paint.

Water-based paints

You may know that paints traditionally contain Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) that can be released into the air, both as the paint is applied and as it dries. These can affect the air quality for both the painter and of the people who will live in the space. We have worked hard to transform our paint formulations to significantly reduce the VOC content is a key commitment, and today, all of our Dulux Trade interior wall emulsions contain low VOCs. Additionally, Dulux Trade Airsure Vinyl Matt and Dulux Trade Airsure Diamond Matt products are 99.9% VOC-free solutions, while Dulux Trade Supermatt is 99.9% VOC free as well as BREEAM and LEED compliant.

When it comes to wood and metal, our water-based products also contain much lower VOCs and are good substitutes for solvent-based formulations. They are quick-drying, sprayable, lower in odour, easier to clean and provide longer-lasting whiteness.

Best of all, Dulux Trade water-based paints provide the same sheen and smooth flowout properties of traditional solvent-based products, meaning you can complete two coats in a day while creating a professional result that lasts.

Choose long-lasting

One smart way of lessening environmental impact is to opt for durable paints that last longer. We’ve developed a suite of high-performing products that guarantee beautiful, long-lasting results even in busy family areas – meaning walls need repainting less frequently. It’s an easy win for both you and your clients.

Our water-based Dulux Trade Diamond range, for example, includes anti-fade technology that helps to make it more durable than standard trade emulsion. With its outstanding even finish and special scrub, scuff and stain-resistant formula, it’s a product that will give you a finish to be proud of and your customer, long-lasting satisfaction.

Dulux Trade Scuffshield Matt is another tough, water-based emulsion that’s designed to protect walls against daily bumps and scuffs. It’s also washable, guaranteeing a finish that will keep looking good even in high-traffic areas, such as for corridors, stairs and hallways – something your customers will thank you for.

For exterior walls, our water-based Dulux Trade Weathershield range provides extensive protection for up to six years, while many of the products also contain a fungicide that will inhibit mould growth on the paint film and help it stay cleaner for longer.

Paints for well-being

Paints can help to promote health and well-being. For example, our Sterishield range represents a revolutionary step change in hygiene coatings by containing active in-film bactericide which inhibits the growth of bacteria such as MRSA, E.coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Donate your leftover paint

Whether you’ve completed a large job or a small one, leftover paint can be one of the by-products of decorating. But all those unused or half-used tins of paint add up – to approximately 50 million litres of paint headed to landfill or incineration. Community RePaint is on a mission to change all that and Dulux has been collaborating with them for over 30 years. Their network collects leftover paint from 70 local schemes around the country and redistributes it at very low cost to charities, community groups and those in social need.
