Take the lid off

Some of the tools we use to insure that what’s in the can doesn’t compromise on safety, people or planet.

Formulating with the environment in mind

The Environmental Impact Analyser or EIA, is a tool developed by independent sustainability experts Forum for the Future, which assesses the environmental impact of different paint formulations in a simple way. The EIA helps us to formulate paints with the quality you expect from Dulux Trade with the planet in mind. It allows us to compare the impact of different ingredients and formulations so we can steer continual improvement in both the quality of our products and their environmental impact.

Sourcing our ingredients responsibly

AkzoNobel has underlined its commitment to driving improvements throughout its global supply chains by signing up to the Together for Sustainability (TfS) initiative. The purpose of TfS is to develop and implement a global audit program to assess and improve sustainability practices within the supply chains of the chemical industry. The TfS initiative involves independent experts carrying out audits of suppliers, with results and ratings shared within TfS on a web-based collaborative platform. This helps us to select more sustainable suppliers and help our existing suppliers to improve their sustainability performance.

Ensuring the safety of our products

At AkzoNobel we recognise that product stewardship is one of the cornerstones of a sustainable business. We are committed to gaining better control over hazardous substances in our products and to replace materials with unacceptable risk. Our award winning Priority Substance Programme identifies, reviews and manages hazardous substances produced or used in our products and processes. To date, the programme has screened thousands of raw materials, prohibiting 97 substances and restricting the use of a further 172.
