Case Study: Paul Sharpe

Paul said; “We cover every aspect of painting and decorating, but spraying is the way we’re heading at the moment. It’s becoming more popular for people to have uPVC windows and doors sprayed now instead of replacing them, as it’s a fraction of the price and less hassle. They also like the factory finish, with no brush marks or roller marks left in the paint."

"We’re getting a lot of positive feedback from customers for our spraying services, and we are seeing more business as a result. January is usually a pretty quiet time for us, but we’ve been incredibly busy since the start of the new year”.

Paul, who joined the Dulux Select Decorator scheme in 2019 and has over 20 years of painting and decorating experience, was led on the courses by highly experienced Dulux Academy Skills Development Consultant Tony Pearson-Young, who was able to provide best practice advice on advanced techniques such as spraying furniture and doors.

“Tony was amazing, I’ve never known anyone who could talk about so many different ways of painting. He’s got that experience as a decorator and he’s always keen to help you. You learn everything on the course – the masking, the preparation – and you get to have a go yourself, which made it easier and quicker to pick things up”.

Paul has also completed several Dulux Academy courses in Lincoln, Slough and most recently Dulux Decorator Centre Norwich. He is now considering taking additional Dulux Academy courses to bolster his business further and continue to take it to the next level.
