Dulux Trade Quick Dry Satinwood is an advanced water-based, satin finish that provides a smooth, durable top coat for use on both interior wood and metal.
Application: Apply by brush, roller or spray. For best results use a good quality synthetic (nylon polyester) brush, designed for use with water-based paints. STIR THOROUGHLY BEFORE USE. The normal finishing process is 2 full coats of Dulux Trade Quick Dry Satinwood on previously coated or suitably primed surfaces. Where a strong colour change is involved, or when overcoating a factory primed substrate, we recommend that a coat of Dulux Trade Quick Dry Undercoat is applied.
Airless Spray: A typical recommendation for airless spray application is a minimum working pressure on paint of 133 bars (2000 lb/sq in) with a spray tip size of 0.38mm (15 thou) and a spray tip angle of 65°.

  • 1. Preparing the Surfaces
To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry (new surfaces particularly must be fully dry). See Dulux Trade Datasheet 551 for full information at duluxtrade.co.uk or by telephoning 0333 222 70 70. Before surface preparation, read the Health & Safety information about old lead paints. Water-borne coatings can be sensitive to rubber containing plasticisers such as flexible PVC strips. The paint film may partially dissolve due to these plasticisers and become sticky. It is advisable to replace such flexible strips with those made of EPDM rubber. We recommend that you seek the advice of the manufacturers of the strips regarding this problem.
  • 2. After use
Cleaning After Final Use: Clean brushes and rollers immediately after final use to reuse them for future projects, saving you money and reducing waste. Cleaning Steps: 1. Remove Excess Paint: Scrape off leftover paint into a container for reuse. 2. Wash with Warm, Soapy Water: Clean brushes and rollers with warm soapy water in a sealed container like a bucket or tub. 3. Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse out all soap and paint residues into the same container. 4. Dry Naturally: Let tools air-dry and store in a dry, dust-free area. Dispose Responsibly: Settle Solids: Let paint solids settle at the bottom of the container. Pour off clear water for reuse or disposal. Disposal: Let remaining paint solids dry fully before disposing of them as solid waste. Do not flush paint down the drain, including when cleaning painting tools Pro Tip: Watch this cleaning guide from the British Coatings Federation and Dulux Connect contractor Bagnall’s: https://coatings.org.uk/general/custom.asp?page=HowToCleanPaintbrushes
  • 3. Storing
Storing & Responsible Disposal Do not use or store paint in extreme temperatures and protect from damp & frost. Reuse, Recycle, or Donate- Whenever possible, reuse, recycle, or donate leftover paint. Find local services at recyclenow.com. If no Community RePaint service is nearby, consider advertising paint locally—many good causes need it to brighten community spaces.
