Meet the CEO who's become part of the Dulux Academy family

One of the most popular courses at the Dulux Academy is the Digital Murals and Feature Walls course. Paul Feather is the CEO of Vista Digital and has been a partner of the Dulux Academy since we opened two years ago.

So how did he get involved?

"Mark Rigby (Academy trainer) introduced me to the Academy and the opportunity to introduce the new Digital Murals course which would include our one-piece wall mural system. They started to promote that and to build that into their curriculum of courses, not just at Slough but across the UK at the different training venues."

According to Paul, one-piece wallpaper is "transforming the way we think about installing wallpaper" and is one of the reasons that the course has been so popular.

Paul says: "It's very successful. Everyone who comes on the course is quite excited and intrigued on the 'one-piece' system. Thanks to today's technology, wallpaper is coming in wider widths. The biggest one-piece we installed was 23 meters wide by 2.8 meters high. Ultimately the issues are multiple lengths and multiple joints, and colour-shading problems. The one-piece system eradicates all the problems a decorator has, which is why they get excited about coming on the course and putting on a mural that comes in one piece of paper!"

What are the other benefits of a Vista Digital mural? Paul adds: "It's very tough, it's very durable, it's washable - we print so the ink really bites into the substrate surface, so it doesn't rub off like conventional wallpapers or other wall mural products do. It's a robust product not just for domestic customers, but also for high-traffic areas in commercial jobs."

Passing the Digital Murals and Feature Walls course also offers the added benefit of Vista Digital registered installer status. Paul explains: "The decorators who come through the course - if they like the end result of the training day they can become one of my registered installers. They become a registered Vista Digital agent which entitles them to install on behalf of us. It helps the marketing aspect of our business and product to know that we've got such a household and well-established name behind us in the form of Dulux Trade."
