Tony Pearson-Young, Skills Development Consultant, teaches spray courses as the Dulux Academy. He says: "Upskilling with new techniques such as spray application is one of the quickest and easiest ways appliers can build their business offering. "The industry tends to view spray application as only appropriate for commercial work, but once individuals understand the correct processes of spraying they see how adaptable this method of application is and can explore opportunities for using it in domestic environments."

As well as teaching the theory and practical skills needed to spray successfully, the courses can also help you to choose the right equipment for your business.

"As we continue to develop the courses to meet the needs and requests of our customers we're keeping ourselves up-to-date with the latest equipment and materials available in the industry," says Tony.

Courses to help you improve your service offering

With a choice of three courses available, there's something to suit every skill level.

  • Introduction to Spray - covers essential basic techniques, how to store and maintain equipment, and tips on application.
  • Advanced Spray Application (HVLP) - develop skills for the domestic sector replicating real-life scenarios.
  • Advanced Spray Application (Airless) - develop application techniques most commonly used in the commercial and new-build sectors.

Courses are taught across the UK and are limited in size, as Tony explains: "Courses are held in our purpose-built training environments with group sizes of a maximum of eight people. This ensures that all attendees get the best learning experiences possible and get everything they need out of their course."
