The Dulux Select Decorator Workmanship Guarantee
We have recently received several questions from members on the Guarantee and we wanted to take the time to ensure all of members understand the Guarantee. Firstly, we have outlined a summary of all the key points surrounding the Guarantee:
Several queries regarding the use of complementary products and how this affects the Guarantee have also been raised by members, please find the answer below.
As laid out in the Your Guarantee Explained leaflet for the Dulux Select Decorators scheme, the 2-year Dulux Workmanship Guarantee requires that members use products manufactured/marketed by Dulux Trade, which include Dulux Trade, Cuprinol Trade, Polycell Trade, Sikkens, Armstead and Hammerite.
The Dulux Guarantee also covers workmanship using complementary products made by other companies (e.g. fillers, preparation materials and wall coverings) where a suitable product is not available from the AkzoNobel Trade brand portfolio.
The Dulux Select Decorators scheme recognises that in some circumstances members using their professional judgement will recommend the use of specialist trade products (e.g. Zinsser primers) that they consider to be the most suitable for the work being undertaken.
Provided such products are complementary to the work undertaken and AkzoNobel Trade products (e.g. undercoats and top coats) are predominantly used, the Dulux Workmanship Guarantee will still apply. However, any failure in the product used will require the homeowner/scheme member to claim directly against the product manufacturer for remedial work required.
