Celebrating apprentices at the Dulux Academy

"The Academy is a great place for apprentices to develop their knowledge and practical skills alongside their college or on-the-job based training." - Josh Johnson, Dulux Academy apprentice.

In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) earlier this month, Dulux Academy invited local painting and decorating apprentices, and a local school, to its facilities in Slough and Ashington.

Designed to support their onsite and college training, and inspire future careers, these training events were hosted by Dulux Academy trainers who were able to share their industry knowledge and experience.

The two-day Ashington event saw the Dulux Academy host first-year apprentices from South Lanarkshire College. The students participated in an Apprenticeship Masterclass, led by trainer Mark Rigby. Mark says:

"We believe that investing in apprentices is key to professionalising the future of the industry. National Apprenticeship Week is an ideal platform to celebrate the success of apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the economy."

Meanwhile in Slough, the Academy hosted a two-day event welcoming current apprentices working for several Dulux Trade Contract Partners, including those from Mitie, Bastows, Redecorating London, AC Beck, HGS, Top Dec and Bagnalls.

Finishing his three-year apprenticeship with the Dulux Academy in Slough this summer, Josh Johnson was quick to praise the facility and all it has to offer.

"Not only have I been lucky enough to have access to all the latest technology within the industry, but throughout my time at the Academy I have had the chance to meet lots of painting and decorating professionals in an environment where trade tips are often shared. Whenever I have a question, I'm confident that the Academy team here can answer it." said Josh.
