The construction sector is set to grow by 10 per cent over the next two years, contributing nearly £11 billion to the UK economy.
The Summer Forecast, from the Construction Products Association (CPA), highlights that the construction output will grow by 4.7 per cent in 2014 and 4.8 per cent in 2015, with output reaching 22.2 per cent by 2019.
There's good news for painters and decorators too, with the private housing sector also expected to grow, which could result in an increased demand for their services.
Dr Noble Francis, of the CPA, said: "We anticipate the recovery will continue through the forecast horizon in 2018 and broaden both across sector and commercial. Notably, in the long-term, we expect this activity will be boosted by work on schools and hospitals. Greater than expected UK economic growth could stimulate even more private sector construction."
