Most Britons want to improve, not move

Many people have given up on the idea of moving house in the current economic climate, and are instead turning to home improvements to make the most of their current property, a new survey has revealed.

The research, conducted by Nationwide Building Society, has revealed that only eight per cent of homeowners are currently considering braving the housing market. In comparison, over 70 per cent of those surveyed stated that they plan to update and modernise their décor.

The findings are good news for painters and decorators, as homeowners increasingly turn to trade professionals to spruce up their existing homes.
