Research has found that small businesses in the UK are "woefully" unprepared for an IT security breach, despite relying heavily on mobile devices and computers.
The study, carried out by Kaspersky Lab, found 31 per cent of respondents wouldn't know what to do if they experienced a security breach, with four in ten saying they would struggle to recover lost data.
82 per cent of firms believe they are not a target for attack as they are too small, however, the threat to them is significant. According to the Federation of Small Business, 41 per cent of SMEs were hit by cybercrime in 2013, with one in ten the victim of online fraud and one in five affected by a virus.
